Why is there a page on prayer?

I mean, everyone prays... right?  Yes, I imagine everyone does pray, from time to time.  But for us prayer is more than just a ministry or something that we do because that is what Christians are supposed to do.

Prayer is important to us, so much so that it is a Core Value (you can read about this under the “who we are” tab). It is our life-link to the Father and not just something that we do but is foundational to who we are.

Prayer has been defined as: “an invocation or act that seeks to activate a rapport with a deity, an object of worship, or a spiritual entity through deliberate communication. Prayer can be a form of religious practice, may be either individual or communal and take place in public or in private. It may involve the use of words or song.”

The key in the definition above is the “rapport” and “deliberate” parts.  We deliberately engage in conversation with God.  That may sound unreal but one of the best parts of relationship is authentic communication: Where one person talks and the other listens and vise versa.  For many prayer is all about me “talking” and God “listening”.  Imagine what would happen in your life if God actually talked to you?!

I have heard it said that “God is talking all the time: Through the bible, in nature, through music, through teachers and preachers, even through our children and sometimes in unexpected ways.  The problem for most of us is . . . we aren’t listening!   If the God of the universe loved us enough to send His Son to die for us, then He surely is interested in us.  As one author has said, “He longs for us, longs to talk to us and build relationship with us.”

Prayer is our best link to God and we believe that God really wants to talk with you.

We take very seriously the opportunity to pray for you.  We have a dedicated group who will pray for you or we will keep your requests confidential in the office if you desire.  God can only answer the prayers we pray.  We can only pray with you for those needs that we are aware of.
